California Poppies – Contemporary Art

That’s what I think; those poppies, flowers in general, are works of art created by nature.  To be clear, this is a secular blog so I’m not suggesting or hinting at anything.  I am pointing out the obvious, is all – nature has always been an amazing artist.  I spent a little time at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve yesterday.  There were a lot of people.  That was not a lot of fun, but the poppies were worth it.  And I need a lot of flower images for a project I’m working on so I will need to brave some other spots during the anticipated “super bloom”.

Poohstock 2011, My Cousin’s Yard, Part 2

Poohstock 2011, The Ride There

Last summer my brothers and I took a ride from southern California to southern Oregon.  We were going to our cousin’s event – Poohstock.  It was a lot of fun.  These are just some shot from my point and shoot of the trip up.  I did some Photoshop work on them a bit too.  Enjoy.

Flowers and a Sunrise

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve been here.  The end of the school year coupled with various vacation and visits – crazy busy.  I should really think about doing this by phone.  Anyway, I’m still behind – even more so now.  You know I never stop photographing stuff.  I better streamline my processing though.  So, here’s a couple of shots from June last year.  Some flowers and a sunrise.

Flowers of My Uncle’s Yard

Nothing real Earth shattering here, just photos of flowers from my uncle’s yard in Fontana.  Back on March 10, 2011, we were still living there so the flowers were just right there waiting for me.  No real Photoshop work going on here besides the watermark either.  The photos are how I shot them.

Look at the white spider in the lower left hand corner ready to defend his petal to the bitter, bloody end.  That’s some Hooah stuff right there!

I shot this with my Canon Rebel XS.  I love shooting flowers.  It is just fun.

Palm Ave Site Survey

We are catching up!  Ok, back on March 9^th, 2011, I was scouting out places to do a photoshoot.  A fellow photographer told me about this place off of Palm Ave so I went to check it out.  I have since done two photoshoots there.  It may be fenced off now but it’s a cool looking place.  And I did this survey with my handy dandy PowerShot A540.

Oh, the sunflowers.  I’m always shooting those no matter what I’m doing.  Part of the “Sun Flower Project”.

These are not sun flowers but looked cool.

Flora Mora

Well, there is not much to say.  I like photographing flowers.  I shot all of this with my point and shoot – PowerShot S5 IS – back in February 2011.  That’s really a good camera.  I took some liberities in Photoshop with 3 of the shots too.  Have a look.
